-Celebrating 30 Years in
2007-
Mobile Meals is
celebrating thirty years of partnering with friends, businesses,
churches, civic organizations and supporters to provide meals to the
homebound of Spartanburg County. Two thousand citizens of diverse
economic and cultural backgrounds continue to be served one hot meal
five days a week, and are provided medical care and chaplain
services. Mobile Meals does not receive government funds, but looks
to the private sector for funding.
The Medical
Ministry was created to improve access to medical services for our
recipients. Services include coordination with physicians, and
referrals to physicians, pharmacists, and other community agencies.
Our nurses also manage medications and provide transportation to
medical appointments. They also offer listening, encouragement, and
prayer.
Through Mobile
Meals' nursing program, more than 200 recipients now have
physicians.
Mobile Meals is
deeply grateful to First Presbyterian Church for their leadership in
renovation of the historic Burnett House as the new home for Mobile
Meals. For $1.00 annually, the congregation graciously leases this
beautiful facility to Mobile Meals. What an outstanding gift to the
Spartanburg Community!
